Alsace

Bordering Switzerland to the south and Germany to the east, the French region of Alsace is one populated by gingerbread-like towns and villages. A place of tradition, its character is defined by a distinctive identity.

Communes

  • Strasbourg
Creative, trendy and not only the capital of Alsace, but to some extent Europe as well, Strasbourg is a proud symbol of democratic values.

  • Mulhouse
Flying under the radar, Mulhouse is loved by urban explorers, particularly due to its notable street art. Plenty to discover here!

  • Colmar
Picture-perfect and romantic in every way, Colmar might be quaint, but its iconic canals, flower-laded windowsills and cobblestone lanes will leave you spellbound.

Culture

  • Cuisine
Flammekueche (or tarte flambée) in Alsace is arguably the iconic dish, but it might surprise you to learn that the pretzel is a symbol of the region.

  • Wine
Renowned around the world for their subtlety and elegance, Alsace is known for whites with pinot noir the only red from the region.

  • Architecture
From Strasbourg's iconic Cathedral with its enormous clock to 'little Venice' in Colmar where typical Alsatian half-timbered houses hug the riverbanks, architecture admirers are in for a treat.
